Ο μουσικός – μαέστρος Γεώργιος Χατζηνίκος και ο συνθέτης Μάνος Χατζηδάκης

Ο Γεώργιος Χατζηνίκος υπήρξε συμμαθητής του Μάνου Χατζηδάκη. Έκανε παγκόσμια καριέρα. Επέλεξε να μείνει στην κλασική μουσική, να διδάξει 100δες μουσικούς, να διασώσει και να αναδείξει έργα Ελλήνων συνθετών, Σκαλκώτα κ. άλ. Την ίδια εποχή ο Μάνος Χατζηδάκης εγκαταλείπει την κλασική μουσική για να ασχοληθεί με το λαϊκό τραγούδι για τους γνωστούς λόγους.

Από το 1983 υπήρξε καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του ετήσιου θερινού φεστιβάλ μουσικής του Κοινωφελούς Ιδρύματος «Γ. Αγγελίνης – Πία Χατζηνίκου», που ίδρυσε η αδελφή του Πία Χατζηνίκου-Αγγελίνη στο Χόρτο του Πηλίου, όπου ο Χατζηνίκος είχε περάσει, τα πέτρινα χρόνια της κατοχής με μόνη παρηγοριά τη μουσική.

Το Ίδρυμα Αγγελίνης-Χατζηνίκου ιδρύθηκε το 1994 από την Πία Χατζηνίκου η οποία καθιέρωσε την παρουσίαση ενός καλλιτεχνικού προγράμματος υψηλού επιπέδου, ήδη από το 1984 και κάθε καλοκαίρι μέχρι σήμερα, στο Χόρτο, στους πρόποδες του Πηλίου στη Θεσσαλία.
